About MVRDV and The Why Factory MVRDV was set up in 1993 by Winy Maas, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. The office pursues its methodical research on density using a method of shaping space through complex amounts of data that accompany contemporary building and design processes. MVRDV has a long history of working on urban visions and planning. Together with Delft University of Technology, MVRDV has set up The Why Factory, the new think tank on urban futures. It wants to give argumentation back to the architectural and urbanized world, and concentrates on the production of models and visualizations for future cities. www.mvrdv.nl www.thewhyfactory.com |
About WORK Architecture Company This project is in collaboration with Amale Andraos and Dan Wood, partners. Based in New York, the firm strives to develop architectural and urban planning projects that engage culture and consciousness, nature and artificiality, surrealism and pragmatism. They are currently working on an “Edible Schoolyard” for PS216 in Brooklyn with Alice Waters and the Chez Panisse Foundation. The practice is supplemented by the partners’ academic involvement at Princeton University, where they have focused on studying the relationship between ecology and urbanism. www.work.ac |
